On the 28th of June, 2017, the Federal Executive Council, approved the National Gas Policy as presented by the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Dr. Emmanuel Ibe Kachikwu.

The purpose of the National Gas Policy is to define the policy of the Federal Government in respect of Nigeria’s natural gas endowment, establish its medium to long-term targets for gas reserves growth and utilisation and record strategies to be pursued to ensure the successful implementation of the policy in accordance with Nigeria’s national socio-economic development priorities.

This policy document builds on the policy goals of the Federal Government for the gas sector as presented in the 7 Big Wins initiative (www.7Bigwins.com) developed by the Ministry of Petroleum Resources and the National Economic Recovery & Growth Plan (ERGP 2017 – 2020).
