The National Oil Company (NOC) of Libya has announced that it had lifted force majeure on the El-Feel oilfield, which marks the end of the blockade of all oil fields and ports in the country.
On Sunday, a first tanker in eight months docked at Al-Zawiya port and began loading. A company of the NOC, Al-Waha Oil Co, said on Sunday that a first tanker was bound for Es Sider and may dock there early on Tuesday.
A statement by the Corporation on Facebook read, “The National Oil Corporation announces the lifting of the force majeure on the El-Feel field and news for the entire Libyan people of the comprehensive end of the closures in all Libyan fields and ports
The National Oil Corporation announces that as of today, Monday, October 26, 2020 AD, the closures in all Libyan fields and ports have ended, and instructions have been given to the operator, Mellitah Company, to start production from the Elephant oil field and to gradually return Mellitah crude to its normal levels during the coming days.”
The Corporation has been lifting force majeure in facilities for a while and this is the last to be lifted. Force Majeure was lifted at the country’s largest oil field, El Sharara, on October 11th and it was lifted at the country’s oil ports of Sidra and Ras Lanuf on October 23rd.
