The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) has pledged to continue supporting NIPCO Plc in its efforts to boost gas infrastructure investment to promote compressed natural gas as a preferred auto fuel.

Engr Usman Yusuf, Chief Operating Officer, Gas & Power, who was present at the company’s stand at the recently concluded 2021 Gas Sector Stakeholders Forum in Kano with Mr Olalekan Ogunleye, Managing Director, Gas Aggregation Company of Nigeria, said the corporation is pleased with the company’s efforts to provide more facilities to enhance natural gas utilisation in Nigeria.

He referred to NIPCO as a dependable partner in the corporation’s overall effort to upgrade existing gas infrastructures to help the government accomplish the Decade of Gas ambition championed by the minister of state for petroleum resources.

He committed to increasing the corporation’s support for NIPCO’s efforts to effectively harness the country’s abundant gas resources, emphasising that the company has already demonstrated the necessary capabilities to develop the natural gas value chain in all of its areas of operations.

He lauded the company’s efforts to open multiple compressed natural gas outlets in Benin City, Edo State, which have given many motorists access to gas to fuel their vehicles.

He also pleaded with the management to focus on the Ajaokuta – Kaduna – Kano (AKK) gas pipeline project, which he said has a lot of business potentials for stakeholders like the company, adding that the scheme would be beneficial when fully completed, given the company’s track record in Benin, Edo State, Ibafo, Ogun State, as well as the ongoing project in Ajaokuta.

Receiving the entourage at the booth, Lawal Taofeek, Assistant General Manager, Corporate Affairs, recalled some of the company’s major milestones in the gas sector, the most notable of which is the plethora of infrastructures put in place to enable motorists to access to cleaner fuel – gas to power their vehicles.
