Malaysian integrated oil and gas services company, Sapura Energy, has announced it is re-entering West African country, Ivory Coast, through a drilling contract it was awarded by Foxtrot International LDC.

The company also announced it has secured two major projects in South America. The total value of the three contracts is $203.4 million, which brings the company’s total wins to-date to $387.4 million in the 2021 Financial Year.

This implies that Sapura Energy will now have two of its rigs operating in Africa. Its semi-submersible tender assisted drilling rig, Sapura Jaya, is currently working offshore Angola too.

The contract scope comprises of the provision of semi tender-assist drilling rig services for three well offshore Ivory Coast, beginning from quarter-one of the 2022 Financial Year. It also includes a one-well extension option.

In South America, the company secured the engineering, procurement, construction and installation scope for the Eni Mexico S. de R. L. de C.V Amoca Project – Offshore Block Area 1 in Mexico. Sapura Navegação Marítima S.A. (SNM) was also awarded a 12-month extension on the contract for the operation of a pipe-laying support vessel, Sapura Esmeralda, by Petrobas, in Brazil.

For the Mexican project, the contract includes the transportation and installation of the Amoca platform and the pipeline and subsea cable interconnecting the Amoca and Mizton platforms with the floating production storage and offloading (FPSO) unit.

In Brazil, the contract entails the provision of services and charter for the installation and recovery of flexible pipes by utilising Sapura Esmeralda in Brazilian waters. The current contract will expire by April 2021. The extension is expected to commence immediately after the expiry of the current one.

SNM is wholly-owned by Seabras Sapura Participações S.A., a joint venture company between Sapura Offshore and a subsidiary of Seadrill Limited.
